Today, we have a new name on our radar - Roken. The Long Island, New York musician shared second single ‘Redeye’ this week , a dreamy number of watercolour synths, ‘80s melodies and a slowdance tempo which Roken describes as “like 80s prom ballad between two lovers.” This off-beat Twin Peaks moment is the perfect backdrop for Roken’s wistful, light-touch vocals which address a far-off lover with the promise “I’m almost home.” Reflecting on the last day of a songwriting stint in Los Angeles, when ‘Redeye’ was written, the budding artist shares “I was kind of in a weird place and just felt really stuck. I was definitely flustered, constantly thinking about how I had to go straight to the airport after the session to catch a redeye flight home.
